Exhibition - close up
"A solid has a definite volume and a fixed shape. The
molecules vibrate or wiggle but do not move to new positions."
-- Mark Tucker
In Solid State, deadline exposed the processes behind the
production of their second building bender, which was then
under construction in Berlin - Mitte.
The exhibition focused on the many different fronts on which
architects struggle to realise a project: Banks, Bureaucracy,
and Building Companies.
Each of the three walls examined one of the physical states
of matter through which a project evolves.
During the early gaseous phase, the molecules (ideas, money,
rules and material) drift randomly.
The molecules begin to form loose bonds with each other during
the liquid phase, still moving amongst themselves, with no
clear shape.
The third wall showed the solidification of these molecules
into a singular reinforced concrete building.
On display were sketches, photos of models, working drawings,
building site photos, computer models and a time lapse film. |
